Faintly Through Cotton

Water is moving, people are moving, clouds are moving. Eddie’s eyes are still. It’s a blurry moment when something must have happened that was unavailable to him. It was significant but of no consequence to Eddie who, at this dull moment, feels that his head has been wrapped by layer upon layer with cotton fluff.

Dani: Wake up, time to go.

Eddie sits up, tries to focus. His world is changed. No water, no beach, no ghostly people. He is on the bare ground in the middle of the woods. He sees himself as he hovers above his body. He sees Dani as she looks at him with curiosity. He looks at the forest surroundings and remembers the scene in E.T. where flashlights shot beams across giant redwoods.

Eddie: I always wanted to live here.
